Question no. 11129 3 pts basic AM

Are you obliged to exercise extreme caution at a level crossing marked as such?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video we are approaching a level crossing equipped with half-barriers and traffic lights; the half-barriers are raised and the lights are not showing any signals; in front of the crossing there is sign D-1, and a cyclist is riding beyond the tracks. At a level crossing marked like this, you are obliged to exercise particular caution - the answer is YES.

The Road Traffic Act requires a driver approaching and crossing a level crossing to exercise particular caution and, before entering the tracks, to make sure that no rail vehicle is approaching. This obligation applies to every level crossing, including one equipped with half-barriers and traffic lights - the equipment can fail. You must not overtake on a level crossing or immediately before it, and you must not stop on a level crossing or less than 10 m from it. When you cross the tracks on a moped, you ride as close to a right angle to the rails as possible, because the wheel can easily drop into the groove and slip, especially on a wet surface.

Legal basis: Art. 28 para. 1 and 2, Art. 28 para. 3 point 3 and Art. 49 para. 1 point 1 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
