You intend to change the lane. Are you obliged to use an indicator?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
YES
Explanation
You are driving in the right lane, where a large lane-change arrow pointing left is painted. It means that this lane is ending and you must move into the neighbouring lane on the left. Changing lanes is a manoeuvre that you always signal with your indicator - also when it is forced by road markings and not by your own decision.
The Road Traffic Act requires you to signal clearly and in good time with your indicator your intention to change direction or lane, and to switch it off right after the manoeuvre. There is no exception for lanes that end. So you switch on your left indicator, give way to the vehicles travelling in the left lane, for example the silver car in front of you, and only then change lanes.
Legal basis: Art. 22 para. 4 and 5 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); § 87 para. 3 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
