Are you obliged to stop, even though the bus is running on the tram tracks?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video we are riding a moped in the right lane of a street in town, where a bus stop line P-17 is painted; in front of us, at a stop without an island next to the tram tracks, a bus that is travelling on the tram tracks is stopping, and a pedestrian is crossing our lane. You are obliged to stop, even though the bus is travelling on the tram tracks - the answer is YES.

When a tram stop has no island for passengers and a public transport vehicle is pulling into it or standing at it, the driver must stop the vehicle so as to allow pedestrians to walk freely to that vehicle or to the pavement. The Road Traffic Act states directly that these rules apply accordingly to the movement of other public transport vehicles, so this also applies to a bus using a tram stop. It does not matter what vehicle the passengers are travelling in - what matters is that they are crossing your lane. You stop and wait until they have left the roadway.
