Question no. 10913 3 pts basic AM

When turning left at an intersection, are you obliged to give the right of way to vehicles that could approach from the right?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video we are driving in the left lane, which has arrows for straight on and left, towards a junction with sign D-1 "priority road" and plate T-6a; the plate shows that the priority road turns right. When turning left, you are obliged to give way to vehicles that might approach from the right - the answer is YES.

Plate T-6a under sign D-1 shows the actual course of the priority road through the junction. Since the priority road turns right, vehicles approaching from the right are travelling on it. When turning left, you leave the priority road and cross their path, so you must let them through. Vehicles from the opposite direction and from the left, on the other hand, come out of minor roads, so they must give way to you. When turning, you also let through pedestrians crossing the roadway you are entering. At junctions with plate T-6a, always first read where the thick line goes - when going "straight on", you may in fact be leaving the priority road.
