Question no. 11124 3 pts basic AM

You are in a built-up area. Were you obliged in this situation to allow the bus driver to merge into traffic?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video we are driving along a street in a built-up area and approaching a bus stop marked with sign D-15, where a city bus with its left indicator on is standing in a lay-by (bus bay) separated from the roadway by a broken line; an adult with a child is waiting by the bus stop post. You were obliged to allow the bus driver to join traffic (włączanie się do ruchu) - the answer is YES.

In a built-up area, a driver approaching a marked bus stop must reduce speed and, if necessary, stop to allow the bus to join traffic, if its driver signals with the indicator the intention to drive from the lay-by onto the roadway. This does not mean that the bus has absolute right of way: its driver may enter the roadway only after making sure that this will not cause danger. Your role is to make it easier for the bus to pull out, instead of speeding up to get ahead of it. At the bus stop, also watch out for pedestrians.

Legal basis: Art. 18 para. 1 and 2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
