Should you exercise extreme caution when passing by the visible bus stop?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
NO
Explanation
In the video we are driving along a street in town, we pass a pedestrian crossing, and further on, on the right side of the roadway, there is a bus stop shelter marked with sign D-15 and a zigzag line; no bus is waiting at the stop. The rules do not require particular caution when driving past an ordinary bus stop next to the pavement - the answer is NO.
The duty to exercise particular caution applies to a stop that is not next to a footway (droga dla pieszych), for example one in the middle of the roadway, from where passengers cross the roadway; this stop is next to the pavement. At a bus stop, special duties arise only when a bus uses its indicator to signal that it intends to join traffic - in a built-up area you must let it do so. This does not mean that you can drive without thinking: normal caution and watching the pavement still apply, because someone may run out of the shelter. The zigzag line is road marking P-17 (bus stop line), which marks the place of the stop - along its whole length other vehicles must not stop.
