Question no. 10925 3 pts basic AM

In this situation, when turning right at the intersection, are you obliged to yield way to vehicles approaching from the left?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video we are driving in the right lane, which has a right-turn arrow, towards a junction; above the roadway there are three sets of traffic lights for the individual lanes, and at the right-hand edge there are directional traffic lights showing a green arrow pointing right. When turning right, you are not obliged to give way to vehicles approaching from the left - the answer is NO.

A green signal shown by directional traffic lights S-3 means that, when driving in the direction shown, there is no conflict with other road users. At that time vehicles approaching from the left have a red signal, and pedestrians at the crossing you drive over are also waiting. So the traffic lights separate the traffic in such a way that you do not have to give way to anyone. This does not free you from caution: if someone drives in on red or a pedestrian runs onto the roadway, you must react. Do not confuse this signal with a green arrow lit next to a red light - then you must stop and let others through.
