Question no. 10926 3 pts basic AM

In this situation, if you want to turn right at the intersection, are you obliged to stop before the traffic light?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video we are driving in the right lane behind a lorry, and before the junction we move into the right-turn lane, while the lorry continues straight on; the traffic lights at the right-hand edge show a green signal, and sign D-1 stands next to them. If you want to turn right, you are not obliged to stop before the traffic lights - the answer is NO.

A green signal shown by traffic lights S-1 means permission to drive past the traffic lights in all permitted directions, including right. The obligation to stop before the traffic lights applies only to turning on a green arrow lit next to a red signal. With a full green light you turn smoothly but with caution: you slow down, signal the manoeuvre with your indicator, keep to the right-hand edge and let through pedestrians crossing the roadway you are entering and cyclists going straight on. Also watch out for the lorry travelling next to you - do not stay in its blind spot.

Legal basis: § 95 para. 1 point 1 and § 96 para. 3 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 26 para. 2 and Art. 27 para. 1a of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
