In this situation, when turning right at an intersection, are you obliged to yield way to vehicles approaching from the left?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
YES
Explanation
In the video we approach a junction near a large car park, in front of which there are signs A-7 "give way" and C-2 "turn right beyond the sign"; motorcyclists are riding ahead of us. When turning right, you are obliged to give way to vehicles approaching from the left - the answer is YES.
Sign A-7 means that you are entering a priority road and must give way to all vehicles travelling on it - from the left and from the right. When turning right, you enter the lane used by the vehicles approaching from the left, so above all you must let them through. Giving way means that you will not force them to change direction or lane, or to change their speed significantly. The right-hand rule does not work here, because priority is set by a sign. You slow down, look left, judge the gap and enter when you are sure you will make it, also letting pedestrians through.
