Are you obliged to yield the right of way to other road users when merging into the traffic?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
YES
Explanation
In the video, we are driving off the pavement, next to a post with sign D-1, onto a roadway along which cars are passing. When joining traffic (włączanie się do ruchu), you are obliged to give way to other road users - the answer is YES.
The Road Traffic Act requires a driver joining traffic to exercise particular caution and give way to another vehicle or road user. This applies to everyone: cars and two-wheelers travelling on the roadway from both sides, cyclists and pedestrians. The right-hand rule does not work here - a driver joining traffic also gives way to a vehicle approaching from the left. Giving way means that you must not force others to change direction or lane or to change their speed significantly. In the video you can see cars driving along the roadway - as long as they are approaching, you wait at the edge. You enter only when there is a clear gap.
