Question no. 10861 3 pts basic AM

Are you obliged to exercise extreme caution when merging into the traffic?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video, we are driving off the pavement, next to a post with sign D-1, onto a roadway along which cars are passing. When joining traffic (włączanie się do ruchu), you are obliged to exercise particular caution - the answer is YES.

The Road Traffic Act states that a driver joining traffic - for example entering the roadway from the pavement, the shoulder or a property - is obliged to exercise particular caution and give way to another vehicle or road user. Particular caution means paying more attention and adapting your behaviour to the conditions so that you can react quickly enough. In practice: you stop before the edge of the roadway, look left, right and left again, judge the speed of approaching vehicles and move off smoothly only when you are sure that you will not force anyone to brake. Drivers on the roadway do not expect a two-wheeler coming off the pavement.
