By stopping at this spot, has the driver of the truck complied with the existing regulations?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
NO
Explanation
A traffic jam is forming on the motorway, and a fire engine with its siren and lights on is approaching from behind. On a roadway with two lanes in one direction, drivers must create an emergency corridor: those driving in the left lane move to the left edge of their lane, those in the right lane - to the right edge. A tipper lorry has stopped in the middle, between the lanes, which is exactly where the clear corridor should form. Its driver did not comply with the regulations.
The Road Traffic Act says that in heavy traffic that makes it difficult for an emergency vehicle (with flashing blue lights and a siren) to pass, a driver on a roadway with two lanes in the same direction must get out of its way: from the left lane, move as close as possible to the left edge of the lane, and from the right lane - as close as possible to the right edge. Here the fire engine had to squeeze through on the right-hand side, losing valuable seconds.
