Question no. 10287 3 pts basic B

In this situation, are you allowed to drive straight ahead through the crossroads?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video, you are driving along a street between blocks of flats and approaching a junction; straight ahead, on the other side of the junction, there is a round red sign with a white horizontal bar - B-2 "no entry". You are not allowed to go straight on through the junction. The answer is: no.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign B-2 "no entry" means that vehicles must not enter the road or roadway from the side where the sign is placed; the ban also applies to columns of pedestrians and to horse riders and people driving animals. The sign stands at the entry of the street straight ahead, so this street is one-way and traffic on it moves towards you - going straight on would mean driving the wrong way, straight towards vehicles leaving the estate. There is a plate under the sign - the ban does not apply to the vehicles shown on it (usually bicycles), but it applies to you in a car in full. So you may turn left or right, and reach the place straight ahead by another street. On estates with a network of one-way streets, B-2 is common - that is why before every junction you look not only at the signs on the right, but also at the entries of the streets on the other side.

Legal basis: § 17 para. 1 and 2 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
