Question no. 9466 3 pts basic B

You intend to turn right in the presented situation. Do you have to stop at the designated place before entering the intersection?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video you are approaching a junction in a town; on the right there are signs B-20 "STOP", D-6 "pedestrian crossing" and B-33 "speed limit" 40 km/h, and on the roadway before the junction the word STOP and a thick line P-12 are painted. As you intend to turn right, you must stop at the designated place before entering the junction. The answer is: yes.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign B-20 means a ban on entering the junction without stopping before the priority road and an obligation to give way to drivers travelling on that road; you should stop at the place designated for this purpose, which is line P-12 "mandatory stop line - STOP". The obligation to stop does not depend on the direction in which you intend to go, or on whether anyone is coming - you must stop even at an empty junction, and "rolling" over the line is a petty offence and in the exam means that you fail it. You stop so that the front of the car does not cross the line, you look left and right, and when turning right, you give way to vehicles from the left and to pedestrians on the crossing over the roadway you are entering.

Legal basis: § 21 para. 1 and 2 and § 89 para. 1 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 26 para. 2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
