Does this signal permit you to turn right without stopping?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the photo you are driving behind a red car and approaching a junction under a flyover; the traffic lights on the right show a red signal, and next to them a green filter arrow (S-2) pointing right is lit; by the road there is sign B-36. This signal does not allow you to turn right without stopping - the green arrow means a conditional turn, after stopping before the traffic lights. The answer is: no.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that a red signal given by traffic lights S-2 together with a signal in the shape of a green arrow means that turning in the direction shown by the arrow into the nearest roadway at the junction is allowed, provided that the driver stops before the traffic lights and does not obstruct other road users. Stopping is mandatory even when you cannot see anyone - at that time pedestrians on the crossing and vehicles from other entries usually have green, so the short stop lets you check whom you must give way to. You drive behind the red car, stop before the stop line, and if there is none - before the traffic lights, look left, right and at the crossing and turn when you will not obstruct anyone's traffic.
