Question no. 8402 3 pts basic B

Are you obliged in this situation, prior to turning right to stop before the transverse roadway?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video you are driving along a street in a town behind a red car and approaching a junction; on the right, before the junction, there is sign B-20 "STOP" with sign D-6b and a yellow diversion board; just before the junction there is a pedestrian crossing and a cycle crossing, with a pedestrian standing next to it. Before turning right, you must stop before the side roadway. The answer is: yes.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign B-20 "STOP" means that you must not enter the junction without stopping in front of the priority road and that you must give way to drivers travelling on that road; you should stop at the marked place, and if there is none - at a place where the driver can make sure that they will not obstruct traffic on the priority road. The direction of the turn does not matter - the duty to stop applies to everyone who enters the junction from this road. When you turn right, a vehicle with right of way may come from the left, and at the pedestrian crossing and cycle crossing before the junction you must give way to pedestrians and cyclists. You stop before the side roadway, check both sides and the crossing, signal the turn and turn right when the way is clear.

Legal basis: § 21 para. 1 and 2 and § 47 para. 3 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
