In the presented situation, are you entitled to make a U-turn at the nearest intersection?

In the photo you are approaching a junction with traffic lights along a wide street in a city; the traffic lights on the left show green, above them there is sign B-21 "no left turn", and sign C-9 stands on the traffic island. A navy blue car and a yellow taxi are driving in front of you. You are not allowed to make a U-turn at this junction - sign B-21 also prohibits U-turns. The answer is: no.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign B-21 "no left turn" prohibits turning left, and in addition prohibits making a U-turn; the prohibition applies at the nearest junction. A U-turn begins with a left turn across the lanes of oncoming traffic, so where you must not turn left, there is also no way to make a U-turn - the rule says this directly so that nobody tries to get around the prohibition. A green light does not change this rule: traffic lights take precedence only over signs regulating right of way, not over prohibitions. At this junction you go straight on or turn right, and if you need to go back, you make a U-turn at the next junction without a prohibition or drive around the block.
