Stopping the vehicle at this intersection should occur before the "STOP" sign?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
NO
Explanation
In the photo you are driving along a street in a town behind a red minibus that has stopped before a junction; on the right there is sign B-20 "STOP", there is no stop line on the roadway, and the view of the intersecting road is limited by a fence and trees. You do not have to stop in front of the STOP sign itself - if there is no marked place, you stop where you can see the priority road. The answer is: no.
The Regulation on road signs and signals states that stopping because of sign B-20 should take place at the place marked for this purpose, and if there is none - at a place where the driver can make sure that they will not obstruct traffic on the priority road; the marked place is mandatory stop line P-12, and the word "STOP" on the roadway confirms the vertical sign. The vertical sign stands where it can be put up, often a few metres before the edge of the intersecting road, and stopping next to it would show you nothing. So you stop at a point from which you can see the main road in both directions, without pushing the front of the car out onto the intersecting road, and if a P-12 line is painted - exactly before it.
