You are involved in a motor accident in such a place on the road in a built-up area. Are you obliged to signal the stop of the motor vehicle?

In the photo, on a multi-lane street in a city, two cars are standing after a collision in the left lane of the roadway, next to warning signs A-6b and A-16, and further ahead there is a junction with traffic lights; a driver is getting out of one of them, and a reflective warning triangle is lying on the roadway behind the vehicles. In such a place in a built-up area, you must signal that the vehicle is stationary because of an accident - it is standing on the roadway where stopping is prohibited. The answer is: yes.

The Road Traffic Act requires the driver to signal that a power-driven vehicle is stationary because of a breakdown or an accident on hard-surfaced roads in a built-up area if it is standing on the roadway in a place where stopping is prohibited, and this is done by switching on the hazard warning lights, and if the vehicle does not have them - with the sidelights and a warning triangle placed behind the vehicle or on it, no higher than 1 m. Stopping is allowed only where it does not obstruct traffic - cars blocking a lane of a busy main road do not meet this condition. So after a collision you switch on the hazard warning lights, and if nobody is injured, you remove the vehicle from the roadway as quickly as possible.
