The Road Traffic Act requires the driver and the people being carried to use seat belts while driving. A belt works only when it fits well: the shoulder part goes across the middle of the collarbone, below the neck, and the lap part lies low on the pelvic bones. A belt lying against the neck (answer A) can damage the larynx and the cervical spine in a collision. Simply being "fastened", regardless of how it lies (answer B), is not enough - a twisted belt, a belt under the arm or one with a lot of slack will not hold the body. You adjust the height of the belt anchorage to your height, and in winter it is better to take off thick jackets.
