Question no. 11179 2 pts basic AM

In this situation, are you obliged to exercise extreme caution when driving into the petrol station?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video, at dusk, we are riding a moped along a street in town and turning left into a petrol station; cars are coming from the opposite direction, other cars are waiting at the station entrance to leave, and a cyclist is riding on the right side of the street. In this situation, when entering the petrol station, you are obliged to exercise particular caution - the answer is YES.

The Road Traffic Act states that a driver may change direction only while exercising particular caution. When turning left into a petrol station, you leave the road for a roadside facility and cross the path of oncoming vehicles, and at the entrance - also a pavement or a cycle path. So you must let oncoming vehicles pass, and when crossing the footway (droga dla pieszych), ride slowly and give way to pedestrians. On the station premises, watch out for cars pulling away from the pumps and for pedestrians walking to the till.

Legal basis: Art. 22 para. 1, 2 point 2 and para. 5, Art. 25 para. 1 and Art. 26 para. 4 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
