Is it allowed to leave a parked agricultural tractor with the plough raised?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

A. No.

Explanation

In the photo there is a red Zetor tractor with a wide snow plough blade fitted at the front, raised above the surface of the yard. Leaving a tractor parked with the plough raised is not allowed - answer A.

The Road Traffic Act requires a driver, while parking, to take the precautions necessary to avoid an accident. A raised plough, blade or other implement is held up only by the hydraulics or the lift mechanism - a leak, an accidental movement of a lever or a child playing is enough for the heavy steel to drop onto the feet of someone standing nearby. Someone can also easily hit their head or catch their bicycle on a raised implement that sticks out. The length of parking changes nothing, so answer B is wrong, and the 5-minute limit (answer C) does not come from any provision. Before you walk away from the tractor, you lower the implement to the ground, switch off the engine, take out the key and apply the parking brake.

Legal basis: Art. 46 para. 5 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
