In this situation, intending to turn left, can you enter this intersection from any lane?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video you are driving through a small town and approaching a roundabout with signs A-7 and C-12; the roadway splits into two lanes, on the left lane there is a painted arrow P-8 for going straight on and to the left, and on the right lane - only to the right; next to the road there is also sign F-10 with the same layout. If you want to turn left, you may enter the junction only from the left lane. The answer is: no.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that lane direction arrows P-8 mean that driving from the lane on which they are placed is allowed only in the direction shown by the arrow, and that sign F-10 shows the permitted directions of travel from each lane. The Road Traffic Act also requires a driver turning left to move towards the centre of the roadway, and on a one-way roadway to its left edge. A left turn from the right lane would cross the path of cars driving in the left lane. So you choose the left lane in good time, before the lanes split, with your indicator switched on.

Legal basis: § 87 para. 1 and § 72 para. 1 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 22 para. 2 point 2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
