At a frog the grooves in the rails are shallower, and for a moment the wheel is guided by its flange resting on the bottom of the groove. At too high a speed the wheel hits the frog, which damages the track and the wheels and can even cause a derailment. That is why you drive over frogs slowly. The number of passengers (answer A) and the speed of other trams (answer C) have nothing to do with the design of the frog. You drive over frogs with particular care in winter.
