In this situation, are you obliged to stop in the place indicated by the conditional stop line?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the photo, from the cab of a tram, we see a pedestrian crossing before a junction; just before the crossing there is a painted give-way line (linia warunkowego zatrzymania) made of rectangles, and pedestrians are walking across the crossing and the tracks. In this situation you are obliged to stop at the place shown by the give-way line - the answer is YES.

A give-way line made of rectangles shows the place where a vehicle stops, among other places before a pedestrian crossing and before a traffic light signal. Pedestrians who are on the crossing have right of way over the tram, so you must stop - and you must do it before this line, not on the crossing. You move off only when the pedestrians have left the tram tracks.
