Question no. 6980 3 pts basic PT

In this situation, are you obliged to yield the right of way to the vehicle coming from the right?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video, we are driving a tram on tracks running next to the roadway towards a place where the tracks cross a street; next to the tracks there is the sign A-16 "pedestrian crossing", further on the sign D-6 right at the crossing, and a blue van is approaching from the right along an intersecting road. In this situation, you do not have to give way to the vehicle coming from the right - the answer is NO.

There are no signs or traffic lights here that change right of way. So a tram, as a rail vehicle, has right of way over other vehicles regardless of the direction they are coming from, also outside a junction. The right-hand rule does not apply to a tram in relation to cars. However, you watch the van, because its driver may fail to give way, and you watch out for pedestrians on the crossing.
