It is not used to hold the vehicle at a standstill when it is parked for a long time on a steep slope (answer A) - that is what the parking brake is for. Nor does it slow the bus down before a stop (answer C), because it works only after the bus has stopped. The Road Traffic Act requires a vehicle to be maintained so that the braking controls can be used reliably.
