If you drive a bus, what's the maximum speed at which you can drive once you go past this sign?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

C. 70 km/h.

Explanation

In the photo you can see an ordinary two-way road with one lane in each direction, and on the right a sign for the end of a built-up area. When driving a bus, you may travel here at a maximum of 70 km/h - answer C.

The Road Traffic Act sets out that outside a built-up area a bus may travel at a maximum of 80 km/h on a motorway, an expressway and a dual carriageway with at least two lanes in each direction, and at 70 km/h on other roads. This road has one roadway with one lane in each direction, so it belongs to "other roads" - the limit for a bus is 70 km/h. The value 50 km/h (answer A) applied in the built-up area that has just ended, and 60 km/h (answer B) does not come from any rule for a bus. For comparison, a passenger car may travel at 90 km/h on such a road, so remember that you will often be overtaken, and keep a distance that allows overtaking drivers to pull in safely in front of you.

Legal basis: Art. 20 para. 1 and para. 3 point 2 letter b of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
