If you're riding a moped, can you use the lane designated for bicycles?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

A. No.

Explanation

In the photo there is a street with a cycle lane at the right-hand edge, separated by a solid line and marked with a bicycle symbol; on board F-10 next to the roadway you can also see a lane for buses and taxis. When riding a moped, you are not allowed to use a cycle lane - answer A.

A cycle lane is a part of the roadway intended for bicycle traffic in one direction - it is also used by, among others, electric scooters, but not by mopeds. A moped, although it is a similar size, is a vehicle with an engine and travels much faster than a cyclist, so in such a lane it would put the cyclist at risk of being hit. The regulations do not allow riding in this lane on condition that you make way for cyclists (answer B) or with particular caution (answer C). On a moped you ride on the roadway, in the correct lane, and you do not use the cycle lane to get around traffic jams either. Also be careful when turning right - a cyclist going straight on in their lane has right of way.
