In what circumstances must you carry out an additional technical check-up of a passenger car?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
B. If so directed by a traffic control authority.
Explanation
In the photo a maroon estate car is standing on a lift in a vehicle inspection station. You must have an additional technical inspection of a passenger car carried out when a road traffic control authority, for example the police, directs you to do it - answer B. Neither a change of owner (A) nor the expiry of the third-party liability insurance (OC) contract (C) requires an additional inspection.
The Road Traffic Act states that, regardless of periodic inspections, an additional technical inspection is required for a vehicle directed to it by a road traffic control authority - when there is a justified suspicion that it endangers road safety or breaks environmental protection requirements, or when it was involved in an accident in which the main load-bearing parts of the body or the safety systems were damaged. The police officer then retains the vehicle registration certificate, and the car returns to the road only after a positive inspection result. An additional inspection is also needed after changes to the construction, for example after fitting a tow bar, and after the repair of major damage.
