Should you wear your seatbelts while driving in these road conditions?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
B. Yes, in any case.
Explanation
In the photo you can see a town street in a traffic jam: lines of passenger cars and lorries are moving slowly in three lanes. Even in such conditions, at low speed, you must wear your seat belt - answer B. The Road Traffic Act does not make this obligation depend on speed (A, C) or on the type of road.
The Road Traffic Act states that the driver of a motor vehicle and a person carried in such a vehicle equipped with seat belts must wear these seat belts while driving. There are few exceptions, and they concern, for example, people with a medical certificate, women who are visibly pregnant or a taxi driver carrying a passenger - driving speed is not one of them. Collisions in traffic jams are common, and already at 20-30 km/h a person without a seat belt hits their head on the steering wheel or the windscreen. You fasten your seat belt before moving off and do not unfasten it until you have stopped the car.
