Question illustration: You are entering such a marked intersection. Do you have the right of passage over other vehicles?

You are entering such a marked intersection. Do you have the right of passage over other vehicles?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the photo a tram is approaching a roundabout; next to the track there are signs A-7 "give way", C-12 "roundabout" and a pedestrian crossing sign, and pedestrians are walking across the crossing. When entering a junction marked like this, you do not have right of way over other vehicles - the answer is NO.

Sign A-7 together with C-12 means that a driver who is on the junction has right of way over a driver entering it. A tram's right of way over other vehicles applies only when it is not determined by signs - here it is determined by sign A-7, which also applies to the tram driver. So you must let vehicles driving on the roadway of the roundabout go, and also pedestrians on the crossing. Before entering, you watch the traffic on the roundabout and move off only when you will not force anyone to brake.

Legal basis: § 5 para. 5 and § 36 para. 2 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 5 para. 1 and Art. 25 para. 2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
