Are you allowed in this situation to overtake a railway vehicle?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
NO
Explanation
You are driving along a two-way street, and on your right, on tram tracks at the edge of the roadway, a tram is travelling in the same direction. A few dozen metres ahead of you there is a pedestrian crossing without traffic lights - you can see the zebra crossing and sign D-6. On a pedestrian crossing and immediately before it you must not overtake any vehicle, including a tram, so the answer is: no.
The Road Traffic Act prohibits overtaking a vehicle on a pedestrian crossing and immediately before it, except at a crossing where traffic is controlled - here there are no traffic lights. The reason is simple: the tram blocks your view of the crossing, and a pedestrian stepping out from behind it will not see your car. If there were no crossing, you would be allowed to overtake on the left a tram whose tracks run along the right edge, because the position of the tracks makes overtaking on the right impossible. Here, however, you stay behind the tram until you have both passed the crossing.
