Question no. 2728 1 pts basic PT

In this situation, are you obliged to signal the intention to change your direction of driving?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video we are driving a tram through a junction where the tracks branch, and we turn right into a street with a pedestrian crossing and a cycle crossing; on the left, on the track for the opposite direction, another tram passes us. In this situation you are obliged to signal your intention to change direction - the answer is YES.

The Road Traffic Act requires the driver of a vehicle to signal the intention to change direction in good time and clearly, and to stop signalling immediately after completing the manoeuvre. This also applies to the tram driver. A tram turning right crosses the path of pedestrians and cyclists at the entrance to the street, and other road users cannot see how the points are set - the indicator tells them about your intention. When turning, you exercise particular caution and let the pedestrians crossing the roadway you are entering and the cyclists on the cycle crossing go first.

Legal basis: Art. 22 para. 1 and 5, Art. 26 para. 2 and Art. 27 para. 1 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
