Question illustration: The prohibition expressed in this visible sign, will it be cancelled at the next crossroad?

The prohibition expressed in this visible sign, will it be cancelled at the next crossroad?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the photo we are driving a tram on a dedicated tram track next to the roadway, and on an overhead contact line pole next to the track there is sign BT-1 "speed limit" with the number 30. The prohibition shown by this sign will not end at the next road junction - the answer is NO.

Sign BT-1 means that the driver of a tram running on the track next to which the sign is placed must not exceed the speed shown. The prohibition applies from the place where the sign is placed to the next crossing (fork) of tracks or to the place where sign BT-2 "end of speed limit" is placed. So what counts is a crossing of tracks, not a crossing of roads - a tram can pass through a street junction where the tracks do not cross, and the limit still applies. Sign BT-1 applies only to trams.

Legal basis: § 81 para. 1 and 2 and § 82 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
