In children, cardiac arrest is most often caused by lack of oxygen, which is why resuscitation guidelines tell a rescuer who is alone to start CPR first: five rescue breaths, then compressions and breaths in a ratio of 15:2 for about a minute, and only then call for help. Calling for help before doing anything (answer A) would delay the delivery of oxygen. Doing CPR for 15 minutes without calling for help (answer C) would mean waiting too long for the rescue team. If you have a phone with a loudspeaker, you can call 112 while you are still doing CPR.
