After performing a manoeuvre to the right at this intersection, are you obliged to switch off the indicator?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
YES
Explanation
In the video, you turn right at a junction where the priority road bends to the right, as shown by plate T-6a under sign D-1. After completing the turn you must switch off the indicator - immediately after finishing the manoeuvre. The answer is: yes.
The Road Traffic Act requires you to signal clearly and in advance the intention to change direction, and to stop signalling immediately after completing the manoeuvre. An indicator that keeps flashing is misleading: a driver coming out of a side street or a pedestrian will think that you are about to turn or stop, and will move right in front of your wheels. In most cars the indicator switches off by itself when you straighten the steering wheel, but after a gentle turn you have to switch it off by hand.
