Are you allowed to stop the vehicle for 1 minute beyond this sign?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

On the right there is sign B-36 "no stopping" with plate T-24, which warns that a vehicle left in this place will be towed away at the owner's expense. The ban on stopping covers any stopping by your own choice, also a short one - stopping in the legal sense means exactly bringing the vehicle to a standstill for up to 1 minute. So you must not stop here even for a moment to drop off a passenger.

The Road Traffic Act defines stopping as bringing a vehicle to a standstill, not caused by traffic conditions or traffic rules, for no longer than one minute, and parking as a longer halt. Sign B-36 prohibits stopping, so it certainly also prohibits parking. The only exception is when you stop because of road conditions, for example in a traffic jam or in front of a crossing that a pedestrian is stepping onto.

Legal basis: § 28 para. 2, 3 and 5 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 2 point 29 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
