Should you refrain from driving a vehicle in the morning, if the night before you consumed a large amount of alcohol?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the photo there are empty glasses and a wine glass. In the morning you should not drive a vehicle if you drank a large amount of alcohol the evening before. The answer is: yes.

The Road Traffic Act prohibits a person from driving a vehicle after drinking alcohol, that is with a concentration of 0.2 to 0.5 per mille in the blood, and when intoxicated - above 0.5 per mille; the second is a crime. The body of a healthy adult removes on average 0.1-0.15 per mille per hour, so after an evening in which the concentration reached 1.5-2 per mille, alcohol stays in the blood for a dozen or so hours - often until noon the next day. Sleep, coffee, a shower and food do not speed up this process; only time affects it. How you feel in the morning can be misleading: you can feel sober while still having more than 0.5 per mille, and even below the level at which it is punishable, a hangover weakens your reflexes and concentration. If you are not sure, you do not get behind the wheel; a breathalyser in the car or at a police station lets you check. The liability for an accident after drinking alcohol is severe, and the insurer will demand that the compensation be paid back.
