Which of the following numbers must you call in order to report a car accident involving a vehicle transporting dangerous goods?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

C. 112 or 998.

Explanation

In the photo you can see a phone showing a class 3 warning label - flammable liquid. You report an accident involving a vehicle carrying dangerous goods on 112 or 998 - the answer is C.

The Road Traffic Act requires a person involved in an accident to call the emergency medical team and the police and to ensure safety at the scene of the incident. The Emergency Notification System Act lists the numbers handled by the emergency notification centres: 112, 997 and 998. 112 is the single European emergency number, from which the dispatcher sends the report to all services; 998 is the fire brigade number, and it is the fire brigade that carries out chemical rescue when dangerous goods leak or burn. You will not dial any of the numbers from answers A and B in an accident - 996 is the round-the-clock number of the Counter-Terrorism Centre of the Internal Security Agency (ABW), and 1212, 111 and 9696 are not emergency numbers. When you report the incident, give the location, the type of vehicle, the number of casualties, and the hazard identification number and UN number from the orange plate - from these the dispatcher will identify the substance.

Legal basis: Art. 44 para. 1 point 2 and para. 2 point 1 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); Art. 3 para. 2 of the Emergency Notification System Act
