In this situation, are you entitled to overtake the cyclist from the right?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
NO
Explanation
In the video we are riding a moped along a street in the city centre with tram tracks; in front of us, between the rails, there is a cyclist, and we are starting to go past them on the right, between the rail and the bollards by the pavement. In this situation you are not allowed to overtake the cyclist on the right - the answer is NO.
A vehicle is overtaken on the left. On the right you may only overtake a rail vehicle or a vehicle signalling a left turn, or overtake on a section with marked lanes, when there are at least two lanes in the same direction. The cyclist is not a tram, is not signalling a left turn, and on this street there are not several lanes in our direction. Such a manoeuvre between the cyclist and the bollards is also dangerous. Watch out for the rails - the wheel of a moped can easily drop into the groove of the tram track.
