Does the visible line consisting of rectangles indicate a place of absolute stop before the pedestrian crossing?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the photo you can see a roadway with a double solid line, a pedestrian crossing, and in front of it a line made of rectangles - marking P-14. This line does not show a place where you must always stop before the pedestrian crossing - the answer is NO.

Marking P-14 is a "give-way line made of rectangles" (linia warunkowego zatrzymania złożona z prostokątów). It shows the place where a vehicle stops, among other places before a pedestrian crossing - but only when stopping is necessary, for example to let a pedestrian who is stepping onto the crossing go across, or when a light signal requires it. When the crossing is clear, you do not have to stop before this line. The mandatory stop line is marking P-12 "STOP" - a wide solid line used together with sign B-20 or B-32, before which you must always stop. When you stop before a crossing, you stop before line P-14, not on the crossing.
