Question no. 11122 3 pts basic AM

You are in a built-up area. Are you in this situation obliged to permit the bus driver to merge into the traffic?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video we are driving along a street in a built-up area and approach a stop marked with sign D-15, where a city bus with its left indicator on is waiting in a lay-by (bus bay) separated from the roadway by a broken line; an adult with a child is waiting by the bus stop post. You are obliged to allow the bus driver to join traffic (włączanie się do ruchu) - the answer is YES.

In a built-up area, a driver approaching a marked bus stop is obliged to reduce speed and, if necessary, stop, to allow the bus to join traffic if its driver uses the indicator to signal the intention to drive out of a lay-by onto the roadway. This helps public transport run smoothly. However, the bus driver does not get absolute right of way - they may move off only when this will not cause danger. You take your foot off the accelerator and watch the bus's indicator and the pedestrians at the stop, ready to stop.

Legal basis: Art. 18 para. 1 and 2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
