Question no. 10879 3 pts basic AM

When turning left at this intersection, are you obliged to give priority to vehicles that could be approaching from the right?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video we are driving along a narrow street between buildings and parked cars towards a junction with signs A-5 "crossroads" and D-6 "pedestrian crossing" in front of it. When you turn left there, you are obliged to give way to vehicles that might approach from the right - the answer is YES.

Sign A-5 announces a junction where priority is not set by signs, so the general rules of the Road Traffic Act apply. A driver approaching a junction gives way to a vehicle approaching from the right, and when turning left - also to vehicles coming from the opposite direction going straight on or turning right. When turning left, you cross the paths of many road users, so you move towards the centre of the roadway, signal the manoeuvre and wait until the vehicles from the right and from the opposite direction have passed. Then you let through pedestrians crossing the roadway you are turning into.

Legal basis: Art. 25 para. 1, Art. 22 para. 2 point 2 and Art. 26 para. 2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); § 5 para. 1 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
