Does the signal mean that in a while the green signal comes on?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
YES
Explanation
In the photo, directional traffic lights S-3 with left arrows, showing red and amber at the same time. The signal shown means that the green signal will come on in a moment. The answer is: yes.
The Regulation on road signs and signals states that red and amber signals shown together mean that you must not go beyond the traffic lights, and also that the green signal will come on in a moment; these rules apply accordingly to directional traffic lights S-3, except that their signals apply to those travelling in the direction shown by the arrow. The signal cycle is fixed: red, red with amber, green, amber, red. Red with amber lasts about a second and is there so that the driver has time to get ready to move off: put the car in gear, release the brake, look at the junction. However, you must not move off while it is lit - entering on red with amber means entering on a red light, and there may still be vehicles in the junction finishing their passage on their amber and pedestrians leaving the crossing. The ordinary traffic lights S-1 have the same sequence, and flashing amber is a completely different signal - a warning, not an announcement of green.
