Are you allowed to park in the marked areas for disabled people, if the parking time does not exceed 15 minutes?
Show the correct answer
Correct answer
NO
Explanation
In the photo, a car park next to blocks of flats; two parking spaces painted blue with the symbol of a person in a wheelchair - marking P-24 - and in front of them plate T-29 with the symbol of a person in a wheelchair and the text "2x". Parking in these spaces is not allowed, even if it does not last more than 15 minutes. The answer is: no.
The Regulation on road signs and signals states that road marking P-24 "space for the vehicle of a person with a disability" means that the parking space where it is placed is intended for the motor vehicle of the persons referred to in Article 8(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Act, and plate T-29 under sign D-18 indicates a space intended for such vehicles. This means persons with disabilities who hold a parking card, and drivers carrying such persons, who place the card behind the windscreen. The regulations do not provide for any time exception - neither 15 minutes nor "just for a moment, while I sort something out". The space must always be free, because a person in a wheelchair needs a wider space to be able to get out of the car at all, and cannot park further away and walk. For parking without a card, the law provides for a fine (ticket) and towing away of the vehicle.
