Question no. 10437 1 pts basic B

Can you turn left at the nearest crossroads?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video you are driving on a street in a housing estate of blocks of flats in town; on the right there is sign D-1 "priority road" with plate T-6a, on which the thick line runs straight on and the thin line branches off to the left. You are allowed to turn left at the nearest junction. The answer is: yes.

The Regulation on road signs and signals states that sign D-1 marks the beginning or continuation of a priority road, and plate T-6a shows the actual course of the priority road through the junction: the priority road is marked with a thick line, the minor road with a thin one. The plate gives information about right of way but does not prohibit anything - turning left into the minor road is allowed, because there is no sign B-21 "no left turn" here and no order to drive in another direction. When turning left, you leave the priority road, so the Road Traffic Act requires you to give way to vehicles coming from the opposite direction that are going straight on or turning right - they are also on the priority road. Before turning, you move towards the middle of the roadway, switch on the left indicator in good time, stop with your wheels pointing straight if someone is coming from the opposite direction, and give way to pedestrians crossing the roadway you are entering.

Legal basis: § 43 para. 1 and 2 of the Regulation on road signs and signals; Art. 25 para. 1, Art. 22 para. 2 point 2 and Art. 26 para. 2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym)
