Question no. 10435 1 pts basic B

Can you perform a U-turn in this situation?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

NO

Explanation

In the video you are driving on a road in town over a bridge with barriers; the roadway has three lanes - two for the opposite direction and one for you - the directions are separated by a double solid line, and on the right there is sign F-15 "asymmetric division of the roadway for opposite directions of traffic". You are not allowed to make a U-turn here. The answer is: no.

The Road Traffic Act prohibits U-turns in a tunnel, on a bridge, on a flyover (viaduct) and on a one-way road, and also in conditions where a U-turn could endanger road safety or obstruct traffic. So the mere fact that you are driving over a bridge is enough for the answer to be "no" - no matter how wide the roadway is. In addition, the Regulation on road signs and signals states that the double solid line P-4 separates lanes for opposite directions and means that you must not drive across it or onto it; a U-turn would require crossing this line and entering the lanes intended for oncoming traffic, which sign F-15 clearly shows. Bridges and flyovers are places without a shoulder, where a manoeuvre across the roadway blocks traffic in both directions. You make a U-turn only after the bridge, at a junction or in a place intended for it.

Legal basis: Art. 22 para. 6 point 1 and 4 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); § 86 para. 5 and § 75 para. 1 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
