Question no. 10432 2 pts basic B

In this situation, are you allowed to stop at the left edge of the roadway?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video you are driving on a one-way residential street in town - at the junction there is sign D-3 "one-way road"; on the left side of the roadway there are parked cars, on the right there are signs A-30 with the plate "Piesi" (pedestrians) and B-36 with plate T-25b, and children with carers are walking on the pavement. You are allowed to stop at the left edge of the roadway. The answer is: yes.

The Road Traffic Act prohibits stopping a vehicle on the roadway at its left edge, but with an exception for stopping or parking in a built-up area on a one-way road or on a two-way roadway with light traffic. On a one-way street in town both conditions of the exception are met, so you may stop on the left - just like the cars parked there. On a one-way road no one comes from the opposite direction, so a car standing on the left does not block anyone's lane. Sign B-36 is on the right and applies only to that side of the roadway; it does not cover the left side. When stopping on the left, you place the car parallel to the edge and as close to it as possible, remember the other prohibitions (10 m from a junction and from a crossing) and open the door carefully, because the driver gets out on the roadway side.

Legal basis: Art. 49 para. 1 point 7 and Art. 46 para. 2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); § 44 para. 1, § 28 para. 3 point 1 and § 11 para. 1 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
