Question no. 10413 2 pts basic B

You intend to turn right at the crossroads. Must you signal this manoeuvre with a right turn signal?

Show the correct answer

Correct answer

YES

Explanation

In the video you are approaching a junction with traffic lights in town; the traffic lights show a green signal, and on the right there are signs A-7 "give way" and C-2 "turn right beyond the sign". Since you intend to turn right, you must signal this manoeuvre with the right indicator. The answer is: yes.

The Road Traffic Act requires a driver to signal an intention to change direction or change lanes with the indicator in good time and clearly, and to stop signalling immediately after completing the manoeuvre. The obligation does not disappear because turning right is the only permitted direction - sign C-2 requires you to go right, but it does not replace the indicator. The flashing light tells pedestrians on the crossing around the corner, cyclists on the cycle crossing and drivers on the intersecting road that you are about to enter their path; they do not have to know the signs placed on your approach to the junction. The green light allows you to move off, but when turning you give way to pedestrians and cyclists crossing the roadway you are entering. You switch on the indicator before you reach the junction, move close to the right edge of the roadway and turn smoothly, watching the crossing and the pavement on the right.

Legal basis: Art. 22 para. 2 point 1 and para. 5 and Art. 26 para. 2 of the Road Traffic Act (Prawo o ruchu drogowym); § 35 para. 1 point 2 of the Regulation on road signs and signals
